On November 11, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 156 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, the importation of fresh pineapples from Myanmar meeting the relevant requirements is permitted.

Orchards and packing houses for pineapples imported into China must be audited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (hereinafter referred to as the Myanmar side) and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The registration information includes name, address and registration number for accurate traceability in case the exported goods do not comply with the relevant regulations. The Myanmar side shall provide the Chinese side with a list of registered orchards and packing houses before the annual export season, which will be published on the website of the General Administration of Customs after the Chinese side's review and approval.

At the same time, the announcement also lists in detail the relevant requirements that need to be met for importation, including packaging requirements, phytosanitary certificate requirements and so on.
