South Korea to revise the composition specifications of food additives such as xanthan gum

On November 21, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of the Republic of Korea issued Notice No. 2024-531, proposing to amend part of the Food Additives Code, which mainly reads as follows:

 

1. Modify the composition specification of stevia.

 

2. Increase the solvent available for the production of xanthan gum and gellan gum.

 

3. Modify the composition specification test method of sucrase and ferulic acid.

 

The above comments will be solicited until January 20, 2025.
