On December 3, 2024, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) of Japan issued Proposal No. 235110010, proposing to revise the standards for food additives and pesticide residues and soliciting public comments thereon. The main contents are as follows:
(1) Revision of the residue standards for the following pesticides: imicyafos, cartap, thiocyclam, bensultap, chinomethionat, 1-Naphthaleneacetic acid, fenpropidin, fluopyram, and other pesticides.
(2) To add anacardic acid as an exempted substance;
(3) The feedback period for comments on the proposal ends on January 8, 2025.
The revised standard is scheduled to be implemented in early March 2025.
