According to the U.S. National Broadcasting Company (NBC) reported on the 7th, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is brewing to ban a code-named "Red Dye 3" red food additives. "Red Dye 3" is made of petroleum refining and processing, no nutritional value, but used as a food coloring agent for a long time, in order to make the food look more beautiful, so as to attract consumers to buy.

For some time now, there have been calls for the banning of "Red Dye 3" in the United States. Previous studies have found that "Red Dye 3" is carcinogenic to animals and has been banned from cosmetic use since 1990. There are also organizations that "Red Dye 3" may cause behavioral problems in children.

Recently, California, Illinois and New York have introduced legislation to ban a range of food coloring additives. Senior officials of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in a congressional hearing, the agency or "a few weeks later" on the "Red Dye 3" measures. In the United States, all food coloring additives must be approved by the FDA before they can be put on the market, and so far the agency has approved 36 food coloring additives, including "Red Dye 3". Trump's nominee for Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been opposed to food coloring additives, claiming that they may cause cancer, but he has not yet revealed what measures he will take against food coloring additives when he takes office.
