Russia's imports of Chinese oranges more than doubled in 2024 against the backdrop of declining supplies from Turkey, RIA Novosti reported based on data from China's statistics department.

Turkey, which has been the largest supplier of oranges to Russia, reduced its supplies by a fifth to 161,300 tons in January-October, compared to 202,300 tons in the same period in 2023, RIA Novosti previously reported.

Russian imports of Chinese oranges in the first ten months of the year rose 1.4 times year-on-year to 48,500 tons (or $46.6 million), data from China's statistics department showed.

Supplies rose 0.5 times year-on-year in October to the largest since December at 1.178 million tons (or $11.83 million).

Russia became the fifth largest purchaser of Chinese oranges in the first 10 months. First place went to Vietnam with 166,300 tons (or $147.7 million) purchased, Kyrgyzstan (88,300 tons), Indonesia (51,800 tons) and Thailand (51,600 tons).
