US FDA intends to approve blue Galdieria extract as a color additive in some foods

 
According to the US Federal news, On September 9, 2021, the US FDA issued Regulation No. 2021-19405, amended color additive regulations to approved blue Galdieria extract, derived from unicellular red algae as a color additive in some foods.

Blue Galdieria extract as a color additive is mainly used in the following food categories: (1) beverages and beverage bases, non-alcoholic; (2) breakfast cereals; (3) chewing gum; (4) candy and frosting; (5) Dairy analogs; (6) frozen dairy desserts and mixtures; (7) fruits and water ice; (8) gelatin, pudding and fillings; (9) hard candies and cough drops; (10) dairy products; (11) ) Processed fruits and juices; (12) Processed vegetables and vegetable juices; (13) Jelly. The use limit is for proper use according to production needs.
