On September 13, the 7th China-ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Animal and Plant Quarantine and Food Safety Cooperation was held by video. Up to now, nearly 1,500 agricultural products and foods from 10 ASEAN countries can be exported to China. In recent years, imports of agricultural products from ASEAN countries have increased year after year, with a year-on-year increase of 10.3% last year and a year-on-year increase of 41.7% from January to August this year.
The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) and its counterparts in ASEAN countries will take the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-ASEAN dialogue relationship as an opportunity to continue deepening cooperation and making good use of the established three-level cooperation mechanism for animal and plant quarantine and food safety, as well as the communication and coordination role of China-ASEAN Animal and Plant Quarantine and Food Safety Cooperation Information Network.
The meeting announced that the upgraded China-ASEAN Animal and Plant Quarantine and Food Safety Cooperation Information Network was officially launched. After the meeting,
GACC also signed bilateral protocols with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand.
