On October 29, Eurasian Economic Commission News Center reported that the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission reviewed and approved the proposal of the Russian Federation and approved the mandatory labeling requirements for packaged drinking water, stipulating that the member states shall adopt the requirements of the resolution in stages.
It is reported that the resolution requires member states to decide on their own time and procedures for the use of relevant labels and signs within their borders, but the committee must be notified 6 months in advance. At the same time, the ban on the circulation of unmarked products shall not be earlier than the following stipulated dates:
-From December 1, 2021: carbonated and non-carbonated natural mineral drinking water;
-From March 1, 2022: Other types of carbonated and non-carbonated mineral water and other drinking water.
Note: From April 1, 2020 to June 1, 2021, the Russian Federation conducted experiments on the use of mandatory labels to identify packaged water.
Since July 1, 2021, the Republic of Kazakhstan has begun to conduct labeling trials for soft drinks (including packaged water).
