Australia revises import requirements for kava root for human consumption

 
On March 28, 2022, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Water Resources and Environment intends to revise the import requirements for human edible kava, effective from March 29, 2022. The main contents are as follows: (1) Packages of kava powder over 25kg and thoroughly dried dried kava roots and rhizomes (whole or sliced) (not including arrival by post, carry-on luggage or low-value goods) must be accompanied by a valid Phytosanitary certificate and additional declaration that samples have been inspected and must not find any Capra beetle species (whether live, dead or hulled) on the Australian Biosecurity Concern Species List; (2) Frozen raw kava Roots and rhizomes (whole or sliced) must be commercially prepared and in clean new packaging. Goods must be washed, kept at -18°C or lower for at least 7 consecutive days, and delivered frozen.

        2022年3月28日,澳大利亚农业水利环境部拟修改人类食用卡瓦进口要求,自2022年3月29日起生效。主要内容如下:(1)超过25kg的卡瓦粉和彻底干燥的干卡瓦根和根茎(整个或切片)包裹(不包括邮寄、随身行李或低值货物的方式抵达),必须随附有效的植物检疫证书和附加声明,样品经过检查,不得发现澳大利亚生物安全关注的物种清单中的任何卡普拉甲虫物种(无论是活的、死的还是脱壳的);(2)冷冻的生卡瓦根和根茎(整个或切片)必须是商业制备,并装在干净的新包装中。货物必须经过清洗,在-18℃或更低的温度下持续保持至少连续7天,并以冷冻方式送达。
