According to Secretariat for Foreign Trade (Secex)’s data, collated by the Brazilian Association of Meat Processors (Abrafrigo), Brazil exported 203,500 tons of beef in March with an export value of us $1.124 billion, representing an increase of export volume of 28% and an increase of export value of 57%, year-on-year. The average price increased by 20.5%, reached $5,319 per tonne, both made a highest record for the same period in history. Export volume reached 545,800 tons in the first quarter, 33% higher year-on-year. Export value rose 60%, reached $2.903 billion.
China remains the main destination for Brazilian beef exports, according to Abrafrigo. China imported 188,200 tons in first quarter, 30.6% more year-on-year. It was followed by the US (69,800 tonnes, rose by 395%) and Egypt (47,700 tonnes, rose by 262%).
