The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) intends to approve Bayer Cropscience Ltd's fungicide Xivana Prime 20 SC, a suspension containing 20g/L of the new active ingredient fluoxapiprolin.
Fluoxapiprolin is a novel piperidine-thiazol-isooxazoline fungicide, which adopts the action mode of oxidation steroid-binding protein inhibitor. Fluoxapiprolin has the activity against many oomyctic fungi.
Xivana Prime 20 SC fungicide was applied at doses of 37.5 to 50 m/100 L to control grape downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola). This product should not be used more than 2 times per growing season on grapes.
APVMA's Chemistry division evaluated the chemical characteristics of the active ingredient fluoxapiprolin and the related product fungicide Xivana Prime 20 SC, including identification, physicochemical properties, manufacturing
process, quality control procedures, stability, batch analysis results and analytical methods, and found them to be within acceptable limits. The review of chemical characteristics and manufacturing details supported the registration of the fungicide Xivana Prime 20 SC and the approval of the active ingredient fluoxapiprolin from a chemical perspective.
APVMA is seeking public comment on the approval and registration of the above active ingredients and products from April 5, 2022 to May 3, 2022.
