On 1 June 2022, the Food Standards Australia New Zealand(FSANZ) has published the official Gazette of Amendment 208 to the Food Standards Codex of Australian and New Zealand. The main amendments include:
standard 1.1.2 Definitions used throughout the all codes
Standard 2.9.5 Food for special medical purpose
Standard 2.9.6 Transitional Standard for foods for special purpose (including amino acid modified Foods) [in New Zealand only]
Attached Table 18 Maximum content of contaminants and natural poisons
Attached Table 29 Food for special purpose
The applications for these amendments are as follows:
Application A1212 - Approval of Aspergillus Fiji as a new source of β -fructose fructofuranosidase
Application A1230 - Approval of very low energy diet as food for special medical purpose
Application A1231 - Approval of maltose α -amylase from genetically modified Escherichia coli as a processing aid
