On 11 July 2022, New Zealand's Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) issued a consultation paper to develop modernised regulations on food exports. The feedback period ends September 30, 2022. The consultation document provides three legislative frameworks, the main contents of which are:
(1) New legislation for exports. When foreign countries have market access requirements, effective supervision can be implemented;
(2) A set of minimum legislative instruments has been added which will immediately apply to all food and other primary sector exports, including the responsibilities of exporters;
(3) Make exports visible by providing a visibility tool for all food and other primary sector exports.
