2. Product scope

According to Article 37 and Article 93 of the Food Safety Law, the production or import of new varieties of food-related products must submit relevant product safety assessment materials to the health administration department of the State Council. After 2018, the approval decision agency for new varieties of food-related products is the National Health Commission.

Food contact materials are a category of new varieties of food-related products. According to GB 4806.1-2016 "National Food Safety Standard, General Safety Requirements of Food Contact Materials and Articles", food contact materials (FCM) and articles refer to various food or food additives (hereinafter referred to as food) that have been or are expected to come into contact with food under normal conditions of use; The materials and articles whose components may be transferred to food, including packaging materials, containers, tools and equipment used for food during food production, processing, packaging, transportation, storage, sales and use, and may directly or indirectly contact food such as Inks, adhesives, lubricants, etc. FCM does not include detergents, disinfectants and public water delivery facilities.
