FAO Releases Microbiological Risk Assessment Report on Foodborne Parasitic Protozoan Diseases
On June 30, 2025, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) released the Microbiological Risk Assessment Report on Foodborne Parasitic Protozoan Diseases. The report focuses on foodborne protozoan parasites such as Cryptosporidium, Cyclospora, Entamoeba, Giardia, Toxoplasma gondii, and Trypanosoma. High-risk foods include fresh produce, shellfish, dairy products, juices, and ready-to-eat foods.
