Hong Kong(China) Suspends Import of Poultry Meat and Products from Parts of Poland, Sweden, and Japan
The Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department’s Centre for Food Safety (CFS) announced today (December 22) that, in response to notifications from the World Organisation for Animal Health, the Swedish Board of Agriculture, and the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries regarding outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in the Kartuzy District of Pomeranian Province and the Poddębice District of Łódź Province in Poland, as well as in Höör Municipality, Sweden, and highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, the CFS has immediately instructed the trade to suspend the import of poultry meat and poultry products (including poultry eggs) from the above-mentioned areas to protect public health.
