Romania proposed to amend veterinary and food safety regulations

On November 4, 2024, the Romanian Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) issued a draft order to amend veterinary and food safety regulations, including:

 

(1) Increase the food safety registration requirements of primary production fruit and vegetable products processing enterprises, and formulate relevant registration procedures and document submission requirements;

 

(2) The enterprises concerned shall comply with the food hygiene conditions stipulated in EU Regulation No. 852/2004 on food hygiene, as well as the guidelines for good Manufacturing Practice recognized by ANSVSA, and shall take all necessary measures to avoid contamination of food products during production and marketing;

 

(3) The relevant products shall be made of safe raw materials, handled by personnel who comply with personal hygiene rules, hold a health card and appropriate protective equipment, have no abnormal color, smell, taste, etc., are not contaminated by impurities, are not transported or placed in dirty, rusty or unsuitable packaging for the relevant products, and the labels and marking contents shall comply with relevant regulations;

 

(4) If its products may pose a risk to public health, the enterprise shall report to ANSVSA and establish verification requirements for the enterprise.
