GACC | Rejected Imported Foods & Cosmetics in June 2020

According to the monthly notice of unqualified foods and cosmetics by GAC, 174 batches of imported foods and 9 batches of imported cosmetics were found unqualified and refused for entry in June 2020.

Unqualified foods came from 32 countries or regions. Products from Taiwan China, 29 batches, were the most, following with Vietnam (25 batches), Russia and Ecuador.

The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were animal diseases detected (39 batches, the most), illegal food label issue (31 batches), unsatisfactory sensory inspections (27 batches), inconsistent goods certificates, etc.

Statistics also show that Tianjin Port detected the largest number of unqualified foods, with 38 batches, following with Dalian Port (24 batches) and Xiamen Port (20 batches).

9 batches unqualified cosmetic came from Thailand and Morocco, which were rejected due to exceeding the shelf life, microbial pollution, and arsenic. The entry port is Shanghai Port.

The above-mentioned unqualified foods and cosmetics had been returned or destroyed at ports, according to GACC.
