Norway to revise rules on food additives

On 23 September 2022, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority issued a notice to revise the regulations on food additives. The main contents are as follows:


(1) Change the requirements for the use of sodium (E500) and potassium carbonate (E501) in squid in food class 9.1.2;


(2) Approve the use of Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone(E1201) in unprocessed mollusks and crustaceans and in foods for special medical purposes;


(3) To revise the specification for the use of the additive sodium diacetate (E262 (II));


(4) Approved the use of enzyme-modified Stevia Rebaudioside M;


(5) Updated standardized use of steviol glycoside (E960);


(6) Approval of oat lecithin as a variant of lecithin (E322);


(7) Approved the use of glycolipid in beverages.


The comment period ends on October 21, 2022.
