Japanese Calbee shrimp strips for infants detected with excessive cadmium

October 11, 2022, Taiwan Food and Drug Administration issued a list of border inspection of substandard food shows that a batch of Japanese shrimp strips for infants exceeded the heavy metal standard.
 
The notification shows that the product name is Calbee 4 packs shrimp strips for infants, the name of the Japanese manufacturer or exporter is カルビー(株) 広岛工场 H, Taiwan importers is Jing Bing Trading Co.

This batch of shrimp flavor strips were detected to contain heavy metal cadmium by 0.047 mg/kg. According to Taiwan Food Contaminants and Toxins Standards", cadmium (baby food category) limit of 0.040 mg/kg, the case does not meet the provisions of Article 17 of the Food Safety and Health Management Act.
 
A total of 19.20 kg of non-conforming products were returned or destroyed.
