Thailand issued a total of five draft regulations

 In early October 2022, the Food and Drug Administration of Thailand issued a total of five draft regulations, including "Health Claims", "Nutrition Labeling", "Prepackaged Food Labeling", "Pesticide Residue Limits in Food (No.4)" and "Natural Mineral Water", all of which are open for comments until November 30, 2022.

1, "Health Claims Exposure Draft". The draft regulation specifies the types of health claims, the rules and conditions that must be met, the requirements for labeling health claims, and the schedule of nutrients with claim statements and conditions of use of food ingredients.

2, "Nutrition Labeling Exposure Draft". The draft regulation stipulates the categories of food that need to be marked with nutrition labeling, the interpretation of nutrition labeling related terms, the rules and conditions that must be met for nutrition labeling, and the four annexes attached to it stipulate the format and conditions of the nutrient table, the method of determining the amount of a portion of food and the method of the number per container, the daily nutrition reference values for Thai people (THAI REFERENCE DAILY INTAKES - THAI RDIs), and the nutrition reference values for Thai people. THAI RDIs), the standards for marking nutrition claims on food labels.

3, "Prepackaged Food Labeling Exposure Draft". The draft regulation repeals the original regulations and their amendments to re-establish the requirements for pre-packaged food labeling. The draft regulations explain food labeling-related terms, such as: prepackaged food, expiration (expired), best before date of consumption, divided, allergens, color, food types with exemptions from prepackaged food labeling, specific requirements of the language, pictures., etc that prepackaged food labeling must comply with and attached schedule stipulating the identification of warning information or other information.

4, "Pesticide Residue Limits in Food (No. 4) Exposure Draft". The draft regulation mainly revised the MRLs of carbaryl in mangosteen, the MRLs of thiamethoxam, imidacloprid, dinotefuran in pineapple, and the MRLs of fluopyram, trifloxystrobin in mangoes and longan.


5, "Natural Mineral Water Exposure Draft". The draft regulation stipulates that sealed packaging of natural mineral water is classified as quality standardized food, specified specific types of natural mineral water, natural mineral water should have the quality or standards before packaging, sealed packaging of natural mineral water should have the quality or standards and labeling requirements.
