The Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) has issued Notice No. 301227 approving the General Requirements for the Production of Mineral Water in accordance with foreign technical Regulations, which may be appealed within 30 days after its publication. The main contents include:
(1) Mineral water produced in accordance with German regulations, which is legally sold in Germany, may be imported into Switzerland or produced and put into swiss market even if it does not comply with the applicable technical regulations in Switzerland;
(2) To set the limit standards for chromium (VI), 1, 4-dioxan, ethylene diamine tetraacetate (EDTA), nitrite (NTA), perchlorate and tetrachloromethane in mineral water;
(3) The production of mineral water in Switzerland must comply with Swiss regulations on employee and animal welfare.
