On 17 November 2022, the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand issued Notice 220-22 on the proposed amendments to the Australian and New Zealand Codex Alimentarius. The main contents of the revision are:

(1) It is proposed to increase the maximum allowable intensity of X-rays in irradiated food from 5MeV to 7.5MeV, and the feedback period for this proposal is up to December 17, 2022;

(2) It is proposed to revise the maximum limit of diarrhetic shellfish toxin (DSTs) from 0.20mg Okadaic Acid (OA) equivalent weight/kg to 0.16mg Okadaic acid equivalent weight/kg. The equivalent units for Paralytic Shellfish Toxins (PST) are also revised to bring them in line with the CODEX standard, and the first phase of the proposal's feedback period ends in mid-February 2023.
