On 24 November 2022, Health Canada issued Notice NOM/ADM-QRA-2022-1 to amend the Nutrition Labelling - Food Reference Scale (Food reference refers to the usual intake of a single meal, which is the basis for determining the specific number of foods represented by each serving in the Nutrition facts list of prepackaged foods). The main contents include: revised food references for products such as dairy products and their substitutes, newly added food references for products such as desserts, baking products and sauces, as well as specific quantities per serving in the nutrition facts list.

The amendment will take effect from 1 January 2026.
