According to Vietnamese media reports, Hoang Khanh Duy, deputy director of the Dong Dang Port Economic Zone Management Committee in Lang Son Province, said that in the first week of December, the volume of goods exported through the Dong Dang-Pingxiang port began to increase sharply. Among them, the export value of goods through Lang Son Port reached 35 million US dollars, an increase of 21% over the previous week.

Statistics from the Dong Dang Port Economic Zone Management Committee show that freight vehicles have also begun to gradually increase. Last week, the number of trucks passing through the Friendship International Port increased by 1.1% compared with the previous week, with an average of about 452 vehicles per day (including about 127 vehicles per day exported to China and 325 vehicles imported per day); the volume of trucks passing through the Xinqing-Puzhai Port increased by an average of 1.6%, reaching about 362 vehicles per day (of which about 215 vehicles per day were exported to China, and about 147 vehicles imported per day).

Especially at the Zhima-Aidian port, the number of trucks clearing customs has also increased significantly, an increase of nearly 30% from the previous week, with an average of about 55 vehicles per day (including about 12 vehicles per day for exports to China and 43 vehicles per day for imports). The number of trucks passing through the Gunan-Nonghuai Port is about 22 per week, an increase of 214% over the previous week.

The representative of Lao Cai Provincial Economic Zone Management Committee said that the number of trucks clearing customs through various ports in Lao Cai Province has remained stable. According to the previous transshipment method, Vietnamese drivers drove the trucks to the transshipment area, and then Chinese drivers drove to China. about 300 trucks cleared the customs every day, most of which transported agricultural products. It is expected that in early 2023, after China reduces control measures, the customs clearance situation will improve.

In July and August this year, Vietnamese passion fruit and durian were granted access to the Chinese market respectively. At the end of October, the General Administration of Customs of China signed the "Plant Quarantine Requirements for Fresh Bananas in Vietnam" with Vietnam. In mid-October, Vietnamese pomelo officially entered the US market after four years of negotiations. It is estimated that by 2030, Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable exports will reach US$6.5 billion.

According to the previous development speed, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports are expected to exceed the US$4 billion mark in 2020. However, due to the impact of the epidemic, exports to China were blocked, and Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports fell to US$3.25 billion in 2020, and slightly increased to US$3.52 billion in 2021.

According to forecasts, the demand from the Chinese market still accounts for more than 50% of Vietnam's fresh fruit exports during the Spring Festival. In 2022, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports will reach US$3.2 billion, a decrease of US$500 million from the historical high. Various protocols between China and Vietnam will be implemented in 2023, and the export of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables to the Chinese market is expected to increase by about 20-30%.
