Australia to include seven new foods in compliance-based intervention program

On December 9, 2022, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) will include paprika and other seven new food products in the Compliance-based Intervention Scheme (CBIS), the specific list is as follows:


(1) Fresh asparagus from Mexico (0709.20.00);

(2) Dried citrus peels from various countries (0814.00.00);

(3) Crushed or ground paprika from all countries (0904.22.00.04);

(4) Crushed or ground vanilla from all countries (0905.20.00);

(5) Dried, pickled or boiled vanilla beans from all countries (0905.10.00);

(6) Semi-processed pineapples from Thailand (0804.30 .00);

(7) Semi-processed garlic from China or Korea (0703.20.00.42).


The DAFF said that to be eligible for risk-based intervention under CBIS, importers need to provide the following materials: import eligible products at appropriate tariffs, submit entries in line mode, meet the import conditions of their goods, satisfy duplication Compliance requires, if required, submit entries with the correct AQIS Commodity Code (ACC). In addition, CBIS-eligible commodities still need to meet other biosecurity and imported food requirements. All imported food must comply with the imported Food Control Act 1992 and is inspected through the imported Food Inspection Scheme.
