According to the Official Journal of the European Union, on December 23, 2022, the European Commission issued Regulation (EU) No. 2022/2570, disapproving silver nitrate as an active substance in product type 7 sterilization products.

This regulation enters into force on the twentieth day from the date of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
