According to the update of the legal database of the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM), BPOM has recently published the Regulations on Advertisement Supervision of Traditional Medicines, Quasi-Drugs and Health Supplements, and Health Supplement Registration Standards and Procedures.
Among them, the Regulations on Advertisement Supervision of Traditional Medicines, Quasi-Drugs and Health Supplements stipulates the regulatory requirements for advertising of traditional medicines, quasi-drugs and health supplements, including advertising standards, language, advertising media, advertising approval process, evaluation, advertising supervision procedures, administrative Penalty measures, etc. The regulations will take effect on December 23, 2022.
Health Supplement Registration Standards and Procedures stipulates that health supplement registration standards include product safety, efficacy and quality requirements, and labeling requirements; it specifies the registration procedures for products produced in Indonesia, imported products and products for export, etc. The new regulations abolish the 2020 "Health Supplement Registration Standards and Procedures", and the previously applied circulation license is still in effect, with a 2-year transition period of 2 years. The regulations will take effect on December 26, 2022.
