India revised licensing regulations for non-high-risk food imports

On 29 December 2022, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) amended the licensing regulations governing the import of non-high-risk food products. The main contents are:


(1) imported food enterprises shall timely update their corporate information and ensure its authenticity;


(2) Any application for amendment shall be subject to official review;


(3) If the import food enterprise applies for adding non-high-risk food, the import license shall be amended immediately; 


(4) The modification fee is Rs 1,000 for the same class of licence;


(5) The revision shall take effect as of the date of promulgation.
