Japan revised implementation rules of Food Sanitation Law

On January 19, 2023, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan (MHLW) issued Announcement No. 0119 of Raw Foods to revise the "Rules for the Implementation of the Food Sanitation Law".

 

The main contents of the revision include: It is stipulated that manufacturers of the following hermetically packaged foods no longer need to obtain a hermetically sealed packaging manufacturing license: substitute tea (only for dry products), dried mushrooms, dried miscellaneous grains, dried seeds, dried beans, and dried seaweed , sugar, processed sesame, dry powdered food, dry soup, dried spices and herbs, salt, seasoning sauce and the mixed products of the above-mentioned foods. The reason for the revision is that botulism will not occur under normal storage conditions Risk of multiplication of spore-forming thermotolerant anaerobic bacteria such as Clostridium.

 

This announcement takes effect from the date of publication.
