Recently, Rodrigo Fabeiro, CEO of Spain's Entrii Asia Market Intelligence Analysis Company, published an article in Chile's "Financial Daily" (Diario Financiero), affirming the status of Chilean wine in the Chinese market. The full text is excerpted as follows :

According to a report released by the Spanish Wine Market Observatory (OeMV) in 2022, in terms of export value, Chile is China's second largest wine supplier, second only to France.

Nowadays, Chilean wine plays an increasingly important role in the Chinese market. By analyzing the number of brands of Spanish, French, Italian and Chilean wines in major supermarkets in Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Nanjing and Guangzhou, it can be found that Chile ranks second only after France. This shows that Chile has made full preparations for the deployment of Ole’, Takashimaya, Kaishike, Carrefour and other supermarket chains that sell imported wine.

Through the analysis of Spain, France, Italy and Chile, the major e-commerce platforms in the Chinese market (Tmall, JD.com, Suning, Hema, Yangmao, Kaola, Xiaohongshu, 1919.cn, Vipshop) , No. 1 store) after positioning, you will also find that although there are fewer wine brands in Chile than in the other three countries, the price is more affordable.

The prices of Chilean red wine and white wine in the Chinese market are the cheapest among the four countries involved in the report, with an average price of about 320 yuan (RMB, the same below)/liter and less than 200 yuan/liter respectively.

The data shows that Chilean wine merchants have made great efforts to enter the Chinese market in recent years, the demand for Chilean wine in the Chinese market is relatively large, and the price of Chilean wine is more affordable. Nowadays, brands such as Lafite, Casillero del Diablo, Montes and Flamenco Andino have almost become the image ambassadors of Chilean wine in the Chinese market.

Although China's wine imports will decline in 2022, the situation is expected to improve in 2023 with the relaxation of epidemic prevention restrictions.
