Recently, Guilherme Coelho, president of the Brazilian Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas), said that the Chinese market may be open to Brazilian table grapes before the end of this year.

In late March, the China’s Sustainable Transportation Innovation Center and the ApexBrasil hosted the "New Era China-Brazil Economic and Trade Cooperation High-Level Forum" in Beijing. The Brazilian grape negotiations on exports to China have taken another step forward. Coelho said that the GACC will soon conduct online inspections on grape farms in Brazil and then issue codes.

The Brazilian grape export season is from January to July every year. 70% of the local table grapes for export are produced in Pernambuco, most of which come from the Vale do Sao Francisco.

In 2022, due to the high humidity in the San Francisco Valley affecting production, Brazilian table grape exports will almost be cut in half. From January to July, a total of 12,400 tons of fresh table grapes were exported, a significant decrease of 45% from 2021; the total export value was 26.2 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 49%. The main destinations for Brazilian grape exports are the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, Spain and Argentina.
