GACC No. 34 of 2023 (Announcement on Plant Quarantine Requirements for Importing Fresh Jackfruit from Malaysia)

On April 11, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 34 of 2023, announcing that the import of Malaysian fresh jackfruit that meets the relevant requirements will be allowed from now on. Orchards and packaging plants exported to China must be reviewed and filed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Safety of Malaysia (hereinafter referred to as "the Malaysian side"), and the registration shall be jointly approved by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as "the Chinese side") and the Malaysian side. Registration information includes name, address and registration number. Before the annual export season, the Malaysian side should provide the Chinese side with a registration list, which will be published on the website of the GACC after being reviewed and approved by the Chinese side.


At the same time, the announcement also listed in detail the relevant requirements for imports, including packaging requirements, quarantine treatment requirements, etc., and provided the technical specifications for bagging of Malaysian jackfruit exported to China in the form of an attachment.
