On 11 April 2023, Argentina's National Food Safety Commission published proposals to revise several food standards in the Codex Alimentarius. The details include:
(1) EX-2020-27813478-Apn-Dera #ANMAT proposal to amend the definition of canned aquatic products, requiring that the curing time of canned anchovies should be at least 3 weeks, the Nacl content should be at least 20%, and the scientific name of species should be indicated on the labels of canned sardines;
(2) EX-2022-40968121-Apn-Dleier #ANMAT proposal to amend the list of allowable algae species and set the limit of inorganic arsenic in algae food at 1mg/kg, etc.;
(3) EX-2021-43504548-- Apn-Dleier #ANMAT proposal to amend the naming requirements and labeling provisions of plant beverages (including fruit and vegetable beverages, plant protein drinks, etc.) and the provisions on the use of food additives;
(4) EX-2022-44667423-- Apn-Dleier #ANMAT proposal to formulate the definition, physicochemical and quality requirements of fermented plum wine (such as methanol content <400m/L, alcohol content between 5.9-14.3%).
The period for comments on the proposals ends May 11, 2023.
