EU revised control measures on imported goods and some measures on food produced in China

On June 7, 2023, according to the Official Journal of the European Union, on June 6, the European Commission issued implementing regulations (EU) 2023/1110, amended in accordance with the implementation of the European Parliament and Council (EU) 2017/625 and (EC) No178/ Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1793, enacted in 2002, amended to temporarily increase official controls and emergency measures to regulate the entry of certain goods from certain third countries into the EU. The Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. The Regulation shall be fully binding and directly applicable in all Member States. Its main contents include:


Annex I of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1793 was amended to include cumin seeds from India (due to the risk of pesticide residue contamination) and sesame seeds (tahini and halva) from Syria (due to contamination with Salmonella risk), etc;


Include fresh or chilled eggplants from China in Annex II of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1793.  The list of goods and inspection frequency for China's entry inspection in the EU under (EU) 2023/1110 is as follows:
