On June 12, 2023, the British Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) updated the relevant requirements for imported products, animals, food and feed systems. The main contents after the update are as follows:
1. importers and import agents must use IPAFFS to notify the UK authorities before the following goods arrive in the UK from EU and non-EU countries: live animals; embryonic products; animal by-products (ABP); non-animal origin high-risk food and feed ( HRFNAO); Products of Animal Origin ((POAO); Compound Foods; Plants and Plant Products.
2. Check the requirements of import rules. import rules that must be complied with include: Live animal and embryo products from the EU; Animal by-products and high-risk food and feed from non-animal sources from the EU; Products of animal origin from the EU; Live animals, animal products from non-EU countries High-risk food and feed of non-animal origin; compound products from the EU; plants and plant products from the EU; plants and plant products from non-EU countries into Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
3. import agents representing importers must register with IPAFFS according to their own business scope. When a notification is made in IPAFFS, the import agent is responsible for the consignment from the time the consignment enters the UK until the authorities complete its inspection.
