Indonesia developed food category standards

On June 6, 2023, the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration issued document No. 13 of 2023, namely “Food Category Standards”, which will be implemented on the date of issuance. The main contents are as follows:


1. Relevant definitions;


2. Enterprises producing, processing and importing food must comply with the provisions of the food category;


3.16 major food categories, including 01. Dairy products; 02. Fat, oil; 03. Edible water, sherbet and sorbet; 04. Fruits and vegetables (including mushrooms, tubers, nuts, including soybeans and aloe) seaweed, etc.; 05. Confectionery / candies and chocolates, etc.;


4. The change of animal and plant raw materials used outside the food category, that is, raw materials, must be submitted in writing and implemented after approval by the competent authority; online submission of application materials is: applicant information, product name, ingredient data, safety and quality of raw materials and nutritional assessment data, regulatory data and circulation data of importing countries, etc.;


5. The transition period is 30 months.
