China and Italy signed agreement on exporting fresh pears to China

During Yu Jianhua, Director of the General Administration of Customs of China, during his recent visit to Italy, the two sides exchanged views on issues such as animal and plant disease prevention and control, and fruit export to China, and signed a protocol on the export of Italian fresh pears to China.


From June 24th to 26th, Yu Jianhua and his delegation visited Italy, holding bilateral talks with With Orazio Schillaci, Italian Minister of Health, Angelo Rossi, senior adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Robert Alesse, director of Customs and Monopoly, and Andrea DeGinaro, director of Fiscal Police.


During the meeting with Orazio Schillaci, the two sides exchanged views on the prevention and control of animal diseases, the lifting of the ban on swine vesicular disease, and the registration of food production enterprises in China.


During the meeting with Angelo Rossi, the two sides exchanged views on issues such as plant disease prevention and control, and fruit export to China. After the meeting, the two sides signed a protocol on the export of Italian fresh pears to China.


During the meeting with Robert Alesse, the two sides exchanged views on issues such as cooperation between directly affiliated customs, customs supervision innovation and technology application, and administrative mutual assistance and investigation. After the meeting, the two sides signed the "Joint Statement" on strengthening inter-customs cooperation to ensure the interconnection of supply chains.


During the talks with Andrea DeGinaro, the two sides reached a consensus on further strengthening cooperation in the field of anti-smuggling and law enforcement between China and Italy.


Italy is the only G7 member country that has joined the "Belt and Road" initiative since 2019.
