On July 10, 2023, the General Administration of Customs of China and the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision communicated and discussed the progress of the two countries in fighting African swine fever and the other related matters.

Representatives of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision and the Federal Animal Health Protection Center introduced the isolation measures adopted by Russia to prevent the spread of dangerous animal diseases (especially African swine fever), and officials from the General Administration of Customs of China also introduced the isolation of African swine fever and testing system.

The joint work between China and Russia offers the possibility to assess the risk assessment of Russian pork exports to China and to develop effective mechanisms to ensure the safety of such products from animal diseases during trade.
