On July 3, 315 kilograms of dried wild anchovies were shipped from Kenya to Changsha Huanghua International Airport in Hunan Province, China. This marked the first time that China imported wild anchovy products from an African country.
The entry of Kenyan dried anchovies into the Chinese market is one of the actions Changsha Customs took to promote new African products into Chinese households. It will help promote the supply of more high-quality African food and seafood, enrich the choices of domestic consumers, and promote China-Africa trade.
An imported food company in Hunan stated that Kenya has rich marine fishery resources. The company will further expand the supply of goods in Tanzania, Somalia and other countries, not only to provide high-quality food raw materials for the domestic market, but also to promote the development of the African aquatic product processing industry and provide employment opportunities for local residents.
