USDA Requests China Customs to Enhance Guidance on CIFER Self-Registration

On August 20, 2025, the U.S. Department of Agriculture requested China Customs to enhance guidance on the CIFER self-registration system. This followed an August 14, 2025 announcement by China's General Administration of Customs (GACC) Bureau of Import and Export Food Safety, which introduced functional adjustments to the self-registration process for enterprises, facilities, and products.

EU Proposes Revision to Maximum Residue Limits for Certain Pesticides

On August 22, 2025, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published document No. 10.2903/j.efsa.2025.9614, proposing to lower the maximum residue limit (MRL) for imazalil in courgettes from the current 0.1 mg/kg to 0.08 mg/kg. The revision will take effect formally after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Jamaia Proposes Revision to Standards for Concentrated Molasses Solubles from Sugarcane

On August 22, 2025, the Jamaican Bureau of Standards issued Notice DJS 375:2025, proposing a revision to the standard for Concentrated Molasses Solubles (CMS) derived from sugarcane. The public comment period will remain open until October 22, 2025.
