Peruvian citrus exports have decreased, while Chinese arrivals have increased

According to Peruvian media reports, Peru has exported 66,765 tons of citrus so far this season, 15% less than last season.

 

In the second week of July, Peru's citrus exports were only 7,126 tons, down 58% from the same period last year. The citrus was exported to 21 destinations around the world, with the United States (44%), China (13%) and the Netherlands (12%) together accounting for 69% of total shipments. Compared to last year, the proportion of citrus sent to the United States has decreased significantly, from 70% in 2022 to 44% this year.

 

In the second week of July, Peru exported 3,135 tons of citrus to the United States, 3 percent less than the previous week and 74 percent less than the same period in 2022. However, Peru exported 926 tons of citrus to China, 10 percent less than the previous week and 64 percent more than the same period last year, led by Camposol SA (67 percent) and Procesadora Torre Blanca SA (6 percent).
