On August 8, 2023, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration issued a list of unqualified foods for border inspection, showing that a batch of banana paste in the Philippines illegally added sweeteners.

The notice shows that the Philippine manufacturer or exporter name is YANGPO FOODS CO.,LTD., the Taiwan importer is Changhao Co.,LTD., and the product brand name is UFC.

It is understood that the batch of banana paste detected saccharin sweetener 0.18 g/kg. According to the "scope of use and limit and specification standards of food additives", the products in the case are not listed as permitted food scope, and the case does not meet the provisions of Article 18 of the Food safety and Health Administration Law.

A total of 4,800.00 kg of non-conforming products were returned or destroyed.
