Peruvian blueberry exports fell sharply from a year earlier, with exports to China down 61 percent

Shipments of fresh blueberries in Peru have continued to increase recently, but total exports are still well below the level of the same period last year. The 2023/24 production season ended the first week of August with 9,816 tonnes shipped to Peru, 28% less than the 13,576 tonnes shipped in the same period of the previous season.

 

In the first week of August, Peru exported 2,160 tons of blueberries, down 47% from the same period last year. The blueberries were exported to 21 destinations, with the top three being the United States (36%), China (30%) and the Netherlands (20%).

 

In one week, Peru exported 784 tons of blueberries to the United States, down 56% from the same period last year. 424 tons of blueberries were exported to the Netherlands, an increase of 23%. Peru exported 646 tons of blueberries to China, a significant 61% decrease from the first week of August 2022. The leading exporters are Blueberry Peru SAC (35%) and Sociedad Agricola Drokasa SA (25%).
