UK revised rules on imported fish products

On 13 October 2023, the British Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) updated its regulations on imported fish products. Main contents:

 

(1) From 31 January 2024, imports of fish products will be classified into high, medium and low risk categories under the Border Target Operating Model (BTOM), with different sanitary and phytosanitary import and border inspection requirements for each risk category;

 

(2) From 31 January 2024, products that need to be inspected for the Border Target Operating Model (BTOM) risk category, notify the UK authorities using imported Animal, Food and Feed Systems (IPAFFS), provide the relevant port health authority with an IUU document (until 30 April 2024) if they fall into the medium or high risk category, You will also need to upload your health certificate to IPAFFS.
