On November 13, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 165 of 2023, announcing that from now on, the import of Sri Lankan wild aquatic products that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed.
Wild aquatic products permitted to be imported refer to wild aquatic animal products and their products intended for human consumption, excluding species listed in the Appendix of the “Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” (CITES) and the “List of National Key Protected Wild Animals in China” (LSKPWA), living aquatic animals and aquatic animal and plant breeding materials.
According to the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China and the Implementation Regulations of the import and Export Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China, the production enterprises that export wild aquatic products to China shall be recommended for registration by the Ministry of Fisheries of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (hereinafter referred to as the Sri Lanka side) to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). No export to China without registration.
At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements for imports, including import product requirements, packaging and marking requirements, certificate requirements, etc.
