On 7 November 2023, the US Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) published Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) fact sheets for retailers, suppliers and consumers. The key elements are as follows:
(1) In addition to English, the Fact Sheet on Country of Origin Labelling is available on the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service website in six languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese; and includes a list of frequently asked questions and labelling options;
(2) The new version of the fact sheet will help ensure that stakeholders have the information they need to comply with federal law and remove barriers to access;
(3) Foods covered include cuts and ground meats; lamb, goat, and chicken; wild and farmed fish and shellfish; fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables; peanuts, pecans, and macadamia nuts; and ginseng.
