On December 4, 2023, according to the website of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, at the latest meeting of the Inter-ministerial Committee on Foreign Trade Policy and participation in international economic Organizations, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Sherik Dzhumangarin, the committee reviewed the effectiveness of the current restrictive measures and took decisions on a number of major issues. In particular, it was decided to ban the export of unprocessed fish. From April 15 to October 15, 2023, the ban applies to bass and catfish.

The results showed a significant increase in domestic processing of these two types of fish. At the same time, the export volume of processed products and domestic market sales increased threefold to 502 tons. Thus, the ban on the export of fish in raw form has increased the domestic volume of fish processing, which is in line with the national policy of increasing the production and export of processed products.
