FDA launched new FAQs and tools for food traceability rule

On November 30, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched a new FAQs and tool for food traceability regulation.

 

Key points of the update include requiring new web pages to include traceable product lot numbers and key data elements (Kdes) on invoices and bills of lading. A video was released to introduce some technical features of the product tracking system. Provides an example of a traceability plan. Added Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). New supply chain instructions for deli salads. How to apply for an exemption under certain conditions.

 

In addition, the FDA Traceability page provides the following content: supply chain examples for different products; A fact sheet; An introductory guide to food traceability regulations; The codification of legislation and related supporting materials and tools; Interactive tools for key tracking events and key data elements; Provide interactive tools for learning, mastering partial and full exemption methods; Frequently asked Questions and more. The compliance date of the Food Traceability Regulation is January 20, 2026.
