On December 29, 2023, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that from December 30, 2023, the Beverage Grading System (Nutri-Grade) labelling requirements and advertising ban will come into effect for freshly prepared beverages sold in selected establishments in Singapore. The main features of the Nutri-Grade measures are:

(1) Freshly prepared beverages must be graded "A", "B", "C" or "D" according to a nutrient grading system based on the sugar and saturated fat content of the beverage;

(2) If a freshly prepared or existing pre-packaged beverage has a grade of "C" or "D", the nutritional grade mark must be posted next to the beverage for sale at the time of purchase;

(3) Industry participants may use the simplified Nutri-Grade logo on menus that list multiple beverage options. Labelling of nutrition-grade drinks rated "A" or "B" will continue to be optional;

(4) Ingredients that can be added to freshly prepared nutritional grade beverages (such as pearls, jellies, ice cream and fresh cream) must be marked with their sugar content;

(5) It is prohibited to advertise the sale of freshly prepared nutrient-grade beverages of grade "D".
